University Foundation Programme – UFP

Why should you choose an Engineering Foundation Course?

Laura Lancaster - Mar 31, 2022

As the Engineering and Computing sector continues to grow globally, with technical skills becoming invaluable in a world ruled by computer systems, the demand for competent engineering and computing graduates has never been greater. Our Engineering Foundation Course combines elements of Engineering and Computing and provides our students with a strong grounding in relevant scientific subjects, including Physics and Chemistry, and core technical subjects such as Computing and Mathematics. This combination of classes hones student’s technical skills and encourages an analytical approach to problem solving which will be invaluable during their first year of university.

Successful UFP Engineering Foundation students have gone on to excel on a variety of technology-based degree courses at a range of outstanding universities. Here are just a few of the fantastic offers current UFP Engineering and Computing students have received for this coming September:

Engineering has long been a male-dominated industry, but changing attitudes are now narrowing the gender gap. More and more female students are opting to study Engineering due to fantastic career prospects, job satisfaction and rewarding salaries available to graduates. Samira studied on our Engineering pathway and has since gone on to obtain a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Manchester. She now works for Rolls Royce as an engineer. Here is what she had to say about her time on the UFP.

‘I appreciated the UFP engineering programme structure as it focused not only on my targeted subjects but it also introduced me to soft skills such as IT and programming languages, which no doubt put me ahead of my colleagues during my Aerospace Engineering degree. When I first joined the UFP, what really comforted me was how the teachers and staff were eager to help me adjust to studying in a foreign country. It is hard to live without family and cope in a new environment, so it was a relief to see teachers become my life time mentors, guiding me through my studies, personal issues and university application very step of the way.’

Our successful Engineering students go on to study a range of Engineering undergraduate courses at high-ranking British universities.

Here’s what some of our past students had to say about their time on our Engineering Foundation Course.
