Thank you to everyone who joined our live webinar this week. For those who attended, and for those who were unable to make it, this article brings together the key points covered during the session, along with highlights from the live Q&A.
The University Foundation Programme (UFP) is a one-year course designed to prepare students for undergraduate study at a highly-ranked UK university. Founded in 1989, the programme combines academic and English language preparation with practical support for the transition to university life, including study skills development and the opportunity to experience life in the UK before beginning a degree.
UFP is built around a modular structure that allows learning to be tailored to each student’s intended degree. The programme offers six pathways:
This breadth means students can pursue a wide range of degree destinations from a single foundation year.
UFP graduates go on to study at a wide range of UK universities, including Russell Group and Top 20 institutions. Our programme is independently recognised and accepted by over 92 universities across the UK — a wider range of destinations than most university-specific foundation programmes are able to offer.
These are just a few examples of UFP’s university destinations:
Alongside academic teaching, UFP students benefit from:
During the session, our panel answered a range of questions from attendees. Some of the key questions are shared below.
What is the difference between doing a foundation programme with a university and doing UFP?
Unlike university-specific foundation programmes, UFP is independent, offering a much wider range of degree and university destinations. The programme is recognised and accepted by over 92 universities across the UK, including Russell Group institutions.
If I have just finished my AS year of A-Levels, can I still join UFP?
Yes. UFP welcomes students who have just completed their AS year, their full A-Levels, or equivalent international qualifications.
If I already have my A-Level results but I’m not happy with them, can I still join UFP?
Yes. Over the years, UFP has supported a significant number of students who switched from A-Levels to the foundation programme after receiving their results, many of whom progressed to their desired university the following year — this year’s cohort included students who progressed to institutions such as the University of Bristol.
Which courses does UFP support progression to at King’s College London?
UFP students progressing to King’s College London have enrolled on a wide variety of degrees, including Law, Politics, and Computer Science and Engineering.
If I apply now, is there still time to join for September?
Yes. Our admissions team works closely with every applicant to ensure they start on time. Where parts of the process take longer than expected, for reasons outside a student’s control, we offer flexibility to accommodate applications as late as early September.
If you weren’t able to secure your place before now, there’s still time. Our team can accommodate late applications and will work with you to complete your application as soon as possible ahead of the September intake.
